In our world, a manufacturer change in the Premier League is big news. Hummel’s return to the top flight of English football this year was a welcome one for me, and after much anticipation I’m happy to report that the 2020 Everton home shirt is decent.
When you first introduce yourself to a fanbase, it’s important to make a solid introduction, and hummel have kept things relatively classic. But don’t mistake this approach for laziness.
There are loads of good details, with my personal highlight being a subliminal diagonal pattern throughout the fabric of the shirt. We also have a simple but effective white trim on the cuffs (which appears to be actually stitched on rather than simply printed), matching the Hummel chevrons on the shoulders.
New sponsor Cazoo also deserve a mention. There’s nothing particularly standout about the logo, but equally it doesn’t detract from the overall design.
I can take or leave the neckline, but like the sponsor it doesn’t impact the shirt too negatively.
This is the start of an exciting journey Everton fans.
