One of the most popular shirts we sell on the Football Shirt Collective is the 1995 Arsenal away shirt made by Nike. It was designed by the amazing designer Drake Ramberg and famous for the giant blue flash.
It is also one of the most faked shirts on the market. So when a journalist from the Netherlands asked our opinion on his shirt we turned it into a guide, so you can tell if your Arsenal shirt is a fake.
The 1995 away shirt made by Nike contains all of the usual components. The Arsenal crest, the JVC sponsor and Nike logo. On the official shirts these are aligned but straight away you can see that on the fake shirt they are not.
The fake shirt contains the wrong colour label for starters. It is white and has a hilarious typo - see if you can spot it. The official Nike label for the 1995 away shirt was black and on the reverse should have 3 codes.
The Arsenal shirts made by Nike in this era had a tag in the bottom right corner of the shirt. With authentic and replica written on red stripes either side of the Nike logo. The original shirts always have nicely aligned print and as you can see the fake the authetnic and replica are misaligned.
Another quality of the vintage original Arsenal shirt is the original crest. The original Arsenal crest has the original cannon, Arsenal stiched and the club moto at the footer, Victoria Concordia Crescit (VCC) – "victory comes from harmony". Honeslty, the fake crest on this shirt is mad. The shape is wrong and elements are way off. CHecking the crest is an easy way to start.
The Nike logo is printed on the Arsenal shirt in the top right corner. Typically the stitching on these logos is tight and clean and again there's good aligment. On the fake you can see it is loose and coming free.
Beyond these tips it is always good to buy from a trust seller and if doubt read our other fake guides.
