Intro: Bukta x Palace x Virgin shirts are the pinnacle of late 80s, early 90s kits. This particular shirt comes from the year when The Eagles finished 3rd in the First Division, their best ever finish in the league.
Condition: Excellent - This shirt looks and feels great. The red and blue on the shirt pops with colour, and the crest and sponsor sit well on the kit with no damage.
Condition details: Despite being over 30 years old, this shirt is in great knick. There is no damage across the shirt, and colours are bright throughout.
For classic shirts like this, it’s important that details like the sponsor are still showing in good condition, and that’s exactly what you’ve got here. Likewise the crest is in good condition, as is the Bukta logo.
Things to look out for: Bukta Crystal Palace shirts need little introduction, and it’s fair to say this particular designs comes from a golden era in Palace’s entire history.
At the tail end of the 1989/90 season, Crystal Palace plundered their way to an FA Cup final. Despite losing the final, they carried on to the 1990/91 season with a renewed sense of ambition which translated to a 3rd place finish in the league.
For fans of relatively obscure 90s tournaments, 1990/91 was also the year that Palace won the fantastically named Zenith Data Systems Cup.
So what about the shirt worn during the banner year, and in particular this third shirt? Like a lot of striped teams, the third shirt for Palace borrowed part of the colour scheme of the home shirt, with red throughout the body and just a few choice details in the supplementary blue.
A lovely subliminal chevron pattern, evocative of many a 90s shirt, adorns the entire design. It’s one of those great aesthetics where the light bounces off and reveals depth to the design every place you look. Another interesting detail is the grandad collar, a standout feature that adds more intrigue to the shirt.

1. They hold value. Unlike a fake or a replica vintage shirts almost always go up in value, if you keep them in good condition. 💰
2. You will look like a legend. You know the feeling. If you go to a game in a 'bruised banana' or an authentic 1990 England shirt. You'll get a silent nod, maybe even a pat on the back or a 'nice shirt mate'. 🕶️
3. Nostalgia. We love vintage shirts, not just because of the cool designs, but the memories they evoke. They'll help you relive the magic moment and remind you of players, teams and a totally different era. ⏱️
