Daniel Amokachi was mistakenly subbed on. The Everton manager had wanted them to hold on for a few seconds to see if Paul Rideout (the injured player was ok) but Daniel wandered on to the pitch, the fourth official held up the board, and that was it.
Independent writer Glenn Moore wrote, "Everton, impassioned and inspired, yesterday succeeded where the Football Association, Liverpool, and three other clubs had failed and ended Tottenham's FA Cup crusade."
The plaudits were taken by Everton sub Daniel Amokachi who was mistakenly subbed on and scored 2 goals to settle proceedings.
The football shirts were glorious, of course. Both teams wore baggy Umbro shirts with big collars. 90s football at its best.
