If you have been following FSC for a while now, you will know how much we love sponsors, especially retro ones! So we were delighted when we chatted to Musa Okwonga for our My First Football Shirt series, during which he took through his first and favourite shirts, which all happened to include iconic sponsors.
We caught up with poet, journalist and author Musa to talk about Arsenal away kits, classic AC Milan shirts and Van Basten volleys.
My first football shirt was an Arsenal away kit. It was yellow, with a blue velour JVC logo on the front. I loved it and wore it to training all the time.

My favourite football shirt is the AC Milan, early-Nineties, with the Mediolanum sponsor on the front.
On this day, 1988: Marco van Basten’s volley.

In a final, no less. Absurd. 🙌pic.twitter.com/3h09cSdAPy
This changes all the time. Currently it is probably that Van Basten volley against Soviet Union in 1988. I would probably have died happy on the spot if I’d done that.
Thanks for Musa for taking the time to speak with us!
