We caught up with Lucas Shanks. Creative director, footballer for Nowhere FC and captain of the Tens club to talk 90s adidas Germany gear, the brown PSG shirt and Wayne Rooney scoring his 'perfect' overhead kick for Manchester United. This interview was part of our My First Football Shirt series.

What was your first football shirt?

My stepfather is German so I was exposed to a lot of German football in the early 1990s. We used to get a boxes of gifts and chocolate sent from his family overseas and I'm pretty sure that's how I got my hands on this gear.

What is your favourite football shirt?

There are so many all-time great kits to choose from, and you can dig back as far as you're able and pull out so many retro gems. The reason this PSG 2006 kit stands out for me is because it's simple and different. It's easy to design something simple, it's easy to design something different, but designing something that's both simple and different is magical, especially as recent as 2006. The brown is odd but also classy, so it still feels very much PSG.

What is your favourite goal?

I'm a Manchester United fan so I'm biased but this goal has everything: Manchester derby, 78th minute, bicycle kick from open play to win the game. This wasn't some stroke of luck, a missed mark or a selfish solo effort—this is a true team goal with so much purpose. The ball from Scholes, the cross from Nani, the bicycle kick from Rooney, the placement. It's perfect.
