Batistuta’s best goals for Roma will make your day

Batigol was one of my favourite players growing up. I saw him live for Fiorentina against Arsenal at Wembley and he scored a screamer. In 2000 Gabriel Batistuta joined Roma from Fiorentina in a short but successful spell in the capital.

He scored 20 goals in his first season and won the Scudetto.  Here are some of the best goals from his time at Roma.

My favourite goals were the volley against Fiorentina (#2) – you just new that was going in when it left his foot – and the volley against Parma (#1).

Very similar to Robin Van Persie’s for Manchester United, the ball was played over his shoulder and Batistuta volleyed it first-time without the ball touching the ground. Class.

The following season Batistuta changed his shirt number from 18 to 20 – the number of goals he scored in the title-winning season.
