Scotland shirts don’t need to shout.
No wild templates. No over-designed nonsense. Just deep navy, a proud crest and a history that’s carried through generations.
From Umbro classics to World Cup one-offs, these are the Scotland shirts that matter most, chosen by fans, players (Bob Wilson) and writers (Graham Ruthven) who remember exactly how they felt the first time they pulled one on.

I’m a Welsh boy but I was also a Liverpool fan and I loved Kenny Dalglish who was Scottish, so I ashamedly got a Scotland shirt (and they knocked Wales out of the World Cup!).
I particularly remember getting the Scotland one for Christmas. It came in a box made by Umbro and I still remember picking it up.
Chosen by: Bob Wilson

My first football shirt was a blue goalkeeping jersey. I was eight, and it was a gift from my uncle David (not blood related). It was a Christmas present that I wore all day, diving around the living room on the carpet. It was blue to represent Scotland.

My first ever football shirt was the home shirt that Scotland wore at the 1998 World Cup. It wasn’t an especially well-designed shirt but it became iconic, given that it was the shirt Scotland wore the last time they made it to a major tournament.
It will always remind me of John Collins’ penalty equaliser in the opening game against Brazil. Of course, it didn’t get any better than that for the Scots at France 98, but at that moment Scotland were a match for anyone, at least for a seven year old.

Now we’re talking.
White base, navy and purple geometric detailing, and that classic 90s Umbro energy. This is Scotland stepping slightly outside their comfort zone - and pulling it off.
Not as widely talked about as the home kits, but among collectors this is a cult favourite. Bold without being over the top. Exactly how away kits should be.

This is peak vintage Scotland.
Thick cotton. Bold Umbro diamond taping. Proper collar. And a massive crest. Worn by Dalglish, Souness and a team that travelled to Argentina with serious expectation.
One of the cleanest international shirts of all time.

If you grew up in the late 80s and early 90s, this is probably your Scotland shirt.
Umbro absolutely nailed the balance here. Subtle patterning, rich navy tones, and a fit that somehow still works today. Italia ’90 kits just hit differently, and Scotland’s is right up there with the best of them.

Ok so this shirt is a bit mad. Purple and shirt jagged patterns on a white shirts. Looks amazing with the classic crest.
