When the movies sponsored Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have instantly recognisable shirts, but in 2003-2004 Season, Atletico Madrid had one of the weirdest football shirts in world football.

The Spanish club signed a sponsorship deal with  Hollywood Movie company Columbia pictures, this allowed them to change their sponsor every time a new motion picture came out and they really did have some strange sponsors.

Atletico Madrid had a wide range of movies on show such as, Spider-man, Hell-boy, Resident Evil, Peter Pan, The Terminator, Hitch and the famously bad film Spanglish. Fernando Torres and Diego Simeone did not look right in the shirts.

Atletico Madrid Spiderman kit

One unique part of this sponsorship deal was Nike and Atletico Madrid created a unique Spiderman Kit for the release of the movie. The kit was worn by the club in an official match and is still one of the weirdest kits in football.

Here's a rundown of the films they promoted.  For me the hands down winner is Bad Boys 2 and Hell Boy.  Most of the films had branded sponsorship but bizzarely Closer, Gothika and Big Fish all just used a plain font.
