Limited edition OOF x Umbro shirts are an artistic delight

We often talk about football shirts as works of art, and a new set of collaborative shirts from OOF Magazine and Umbro has run with that mantra in a big way.

The strictly limited edition designs wed the talents of two creatives at the top of their game, Juno Calypso and Rhys Coren, with some glorious Umbro kits.

We’re used to seeing vibrant, colourful shirt designs in the football world these days, but the OOF x UMBRO SS21 collection stands out for how well the style of each respective artist has been explored through the medium of football shirts. The complete freedom on each kit, framed with key Umbro features like the double diamond cuffs, produces an end result that would look as good inside a frame in a gallery as it would being worn on the beach or indeed, on the pitch.

Even if you’re not familiar with the work or Juno Calypso and Rhys Coren, a quick glance at their respective Instas tells you everything you need to know. Juno’s evocative, pink-soaked style lends itself perfectly to the OOF x Umbro shirt, with its undulating pastel waves and fantasy brothel sponsor. For Rhys Coren’s shirt, the name of the game is vibrant primary colours and geometric shapes that give off major palm tree, summer vibes.

Alongside the stunning aesthetics of the collection, OOF and Umbro deserve credit for how they’ve gone about releasing the shirts. Both designs are available as strictly limited edition pieces, but unlike other ‘limited editions’ we’ve seen in the football world these are actually limited edition (with signed, numbered certificates of authenticity as proof) and priced more than reasonably at £55.

By the time you’re reading this, the shirts will have almost sold out, but if you’re lucky you might be able to pick up the last couple from OOF Magazine.
