2020 Dortmund home shirt review
When reviewing a shirt, it’s important to consider a number of factors.
How does the shirt compare to previous designs in a club’s kit history? What are some of the influences, both obvious and subtle, that a brand has drawn on for a design?
Sometimes however, a shirt is best summed up by a type of Pokémon.

Yep, the new Dortmund home shirt bears a striking resemblance to Electabuzz, a species of Pokémon with a distinctive black lightning-bolt pattern on a yellow (of course) base. Twitter is awash with pictures of the little guy, and now I can’t unsee it.

With all that being said, is the shirt actually good? In all honesty, though I love a creative design that takes risk, I’m not head over heels for this kit.
The pattern feels a little half-baked, especially with the way it doesn’t continue onto the sleeves or back, and though new sponsors 1&1 have changed their usual colour to incorporate better with the shirt, the use of white takes away from the overall look.

In short, I love the idea but the execution misses the mark for me.
