2020 Motherwell away shirt review
100 Word Reviews – The latest shirts in bitesize chunks
When it comes to winning colour combinations, a few spring easily to mind: red and black, blue and white, black and white – but blue, claret, amber and white not so much.
Motherwell’s away shirt dares to be different, returning to the blue of the club’s origins, whilst also the more recognisable claret and amber in the horizontal bands around the chest.
A calligraphic form of the crest and “Steelmen” logo on the reverse, as well as the shirt collar, complete a smart aesthetic.
Despite the best efforts, though, it’s hard to pull of this hybrid of colours in my opinion, and the band design feels more like a compromise than a statement.
