This Ajax home concept would be the perfect partner for the new away

Over the last week, the new Ajax away shirt has been getting a lot of attention online, with the adidas design standing out for it’s all over grainy texture and faded denim colour.

But amongst all of this hype, we cannot forget just how good the Ajax home jersey can be. To remind us of just that, today we have reviewed Visilfer’s Ajax home concept. Let’s take a look at what he has come up with!

The design

SInce the 2008-09 season, the Ajax badge has sat on the left-hand side of the shirt, as is the traditional placement on a majority of shirts. In this concept, however, Visilfer returns the famous badge to what is, in my opinion, it’s rightful place in the centre of the jersey.

While this sort of placement is eye-catching on most shirts, the classic thick red stripe running down the middle of the shirt makes this placement seem all the more fitting, as that is where the eye is immediately drawn to.

Within this red stripe we also see @visilfer.99’s biggest departure from usual Ajax home shirts, with the use of two separate patterns. The first and most obvious are the three Xs running vertically down the shirt, a symbol synonymous with the Amsterdam club, and inspired by their city’s flag.

These Xs are able to stand out more thanks to the use of the second pattern, which uses a darker shade of red to create a wavy, fluid-like pattern. While it may not have worked on it’s own or running across the entire shirt, it perfectly highlights the Xs and breaks up the pattern of the shirt.

Home or away?

Despite having such a classic and instantly recognisable home shirt, the last few years have seen adidas and Ajax produce some stunning, one-of-a-kind away tops. For me, it is hard to beat the home top, with @visilfer.99’s concept showing how a classic look can still use some modern touches.

But we want to hear from you! Are you a fan of the Ajac home design, or are you rushing out to buy their latest away release? Tell us below!
