With next season’s kits set to be released by Nike in the coming months, Rome-based concept designer @fdk.design’s recent Roma home shirt concept has got us looking forward to the Italian’s knocking it out the park in the kit department yet again.
You’ve probably seen the recent leaks, and it’s true. The famous ‘lollipop’ design of the 70s is coming back for 2020, and FKD’s concept honours that famous aesthetic with several broadening bands of yellow, orange and red across the chest.
The rest of the shirt stays closer to Roma’s roots, using a block maroon colour below the lollipop, and a crew-cut collar and sleeve trims with eye-catching gold lines running round each. Those gold lines remind me a little bit of Roma’s superb lightning bolt cuff and collar design as seen on this season’s home shirt.
Would you be happy if this was the new Roma shirt?
Since 2014, Nike have kept up a strong record of producing generally simple, classic Roma home shirts with one or two stand-out features to modernise them, like last year’s lightning bolts. Let us know in the comments below if you would be happy to see Roma and Nike release something similar to FKD’s concept for the 2020/21 home shirt!
