World Cup 2018 kit ranking: Like Messi, the Argentina kits are simple but brilliant

Next month, Lionel Messi is hoping to lift the one trophy that’s eluded him: the World Cup. Adidas have produced a pretty tidy kit for him and Argentina too in their bid for glory. Like the wee man himself, it’s simple and predictable but absolutely magnificent.

It must be a kit designer’s dream to get the Argentina World Cup commission. And some lucky punter at Adidas got the gig for the 2018 kit. This year’s home kit is as true to the great kits the country’s had in years gone by: three black stripes on the sleeves, a black Adidas logo and the AFA badge on top of gorgeous pale blue-and-white stripes. Simple but beautiful.

Away shirt:

Manufacturer: Adidas
Price:£49.95 (Adidas)
Ranking: 7/10

The away kit isn’t half bad either. Messi may look beyond pissed off in the image above, but it’s in line with Adidas’s range of retro-inspired kits that we’ve seen a lot of this season. I have no idea whether Argentina will be any good this season, but they’ll look decent even if their football isn’t.
