The most glorious Chelsea shirt worn at Stamford Bridge

1983 was a long time ago and different era for Chelsea.  They were in the 2nd division (chasing promotion to the top flight) but got to wear one of the most beautiful shirts to grace Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea shirt had dark and light blue hoops and was made by Le Coq Sportif and was voted in FourFourTwo’s best ever Chelsea shirt ranking.

It’s all about horizontal lines, not least the red trim on the shorts. As hot as Chelsea’s attack.

It was worn by a team of fearless youngsters spearheaded by Pat Nevin and goal machine Kerry Dixon – who hand a penchant for short shorts.

It paid off as Chelsea got promoted wearing the shirt and finished 6th in their first season back in the top flight.

Feast your eyes on it here.  Glorious.  I love the trim on the collar and cuffs.
