Liverpool have had some great away shirts over the year. The late 80s Umbro pin-stripes, the garish gold and black adidas shirt of the mid-90s but nothing comes close to this grey and red 1989 away shirt.
The shirt made by adidas has grey and white faded diamonds, a vintage adidas sponsor and Liverpool crest embossed onto the shirt. We love the pattern and the contrast of the red and grey pin stripes.
We asked the good people of Instagram who it remind them of and although we had a few shouts for Peter Beardsley, the most popular choice was John Barnes. The England and Liverpool was in his prime in 1989-90 scoring 28 goals for Liverpool. The most goals he ever scored in a season.
