Let me take you back to September 3rd 2003. It was a balmy summer, Elton John was number one ‘Are you ready for love?’ and Ronaldinho scored an absolute belter for Barcelona v Sevilla at 1.30 in the morning.
Barcelona were facing a build up of games due to the Champions League and wanted to play the match on a Tuesday to match Real Madrid’s fixture. Seville said it had to be Wednesday but Barcelona could choose the kick off time. At 12.05 am.
Barcelona promised a party for the fans. The museum was open late, there was music and loads of food and drink.
The special moment came at 1.30 in the morning. Ronaldinho who was making his home debut scored an absolute worldie. The man who loved the early hours gathered the ball from the goalie. Dropped the shoulder on one player, dropped it on another and smashed the ball into the top corner past the goalie.
It was chosen by Nerea Palacios as her favourite Barcelona goal in her favourite football shirt interview.
I have 2 favourite goal. The first one was because I was in the stadium and it was a big step for Barcelona, is the Ronaldinho goal versus Seville in season 2003-2004. Amazing.
