Arsenal have had some great home shirts over the years. The late 1991 mottled adidas shirt and the 1997 with the collar that Ian Wright tucked in but the most beautiful has to be the 1986 home shirt.
The shirt has a red base with white sleeves and red trim. We love it for 3 reasons;
- the pattern on the shirt – the red colour is timeless and there is a thick striped pattern with cannons embossed into the material.
- the red and white trim on the v neck and the 3 adidas stripes look absolutely class.
- the cannon – not a huge badge facing left but a simple striped back cannon with 3 cannon balls with AFC on them. This is what a badge should look like. Simple and clean.
The shirt was worn in George Graham’s first as manager where he started to build his blue print with players such as Tony Adams, Michael Thomas and David Rocastle.
We think its absolutely beautiful.
