Remember when the Tottenham Hotspur kit was made by Puma in the early 2000’s? Well their finest moment came in 2007 to mark Spurs’ 125 year anniversary.
In 2007-08 Puma made a limited edition half and half shirt to be worn when Spurs faced Aston Villa at home. The shirt was half white and have bright blue with a huge wide neck collar and the cockerel with 125 years underneath.
It was worn in Martin Jol’s last season in charge as a Spurs team and worn by Berbatov and Keane up front, Ledley King at the back and a young Gareth Bale making his Spurs break through.
Tottenham got off to a stinker that season winning only 1 of their first 8 games .
On 1 October Spurs faced Aston Villa at home in a match to celebrate the 125 year anniversary and it was absolutely bat sh1t crazy. Spurs struggled with the weight of expectation in wearing the anniversary shirt and were 4-1 down on 59 minutes.
Not to be defeated in such a glorious outfit Spurs didn’t sit back and goals from Chimbonda and Keane brought Spurs back into it before Kaboul hammered in an equaliser in the last minute.
It wasn’t enough to save Martin Jol but at least the shirt was class.
