Marcus Rashford has made quite the name for himself during his time at Manchester United.
The 20-year-old striker is a United fan born and bred, and like any young supporter, he’s spoiled for choice when it comes to idols.
The likes of Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo or Roy Keane may have been the more obvious choices for a future Old Trafford favourite, but Rashford has recently admitted that he grew up admiring a rather unexpected player.
Rashford played at local side Fletcher Moss from the age of five, and was picked up by United at just seven years old.
And although now he’s known for banging the goals in, back then he fancied himself as a decent goalkeeper. In fact, he still does.
“My first season [at Fletcher Moss] I went in net,” Rashford told the Sunday Times. “The thrill of scoring a goal, you get the same thrill when you save a good chance.
“Howard was my idol. I used to have a little Tim Howard shirt. You watch, there’ll be a game [when he is called upon to go in goal]. I’m going to get the gloves one day!”
