Some football shirts remind you of players and others moments. And this vintage 1985 Chelsea shirt is no exception as it reminds us of their win in the Full Members Cup.
The shirt is the 1985 Chelsea home shirt (M) made by Le Coq Sportif. It has their logo emblazoned in the shirt and white trim on the neck and cuffs and a huge Lion crest on the right hand side.
The home kit was only worn this season and was unsponsored, as it had been since the end of Chelsea’s first-ever sponsorship, with Gulf Air in the 1983–84 season.
Chelsea didn’t win the league or FA Cup in it but they did bring home the Full Members Cup. A trophy set up in the wake of English clubs being banned from Europe. The final was played in March at Wembley and Chelsea beat Manchester City 5-4.
