Regular moments of magic came from both feet, with ball control so subtle it often needed replays accompanied by classical music to do it justice.

Sporting a truly unique look consisting of dreadlocks and protective eyewear, the Dutch midfielder's blend of tenacity and the dribbling technique of a street footballer made him a solid option in any midfield.
