An Italian football magazine dubbed this clip between Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers the worst in the history of the game.
And let’s be honest, it’s pretty bloody atrocious.
It all began when the clip started doing the rounds on Twitter, having been posted by @crap90sfootball, a Twitter account that celebrates just how ugly the beautiful game can be, particularly in the 1990s.
Although the theme of the Twitter account is to publish some truly abysmal footage of the 1990s game, this clip of City and QPR was so bad, it attracted attention from overseas, appearing on US and European sites.
L’Ultimo Uomo said it was the “ugliest football” ever to have been played, but conceded it was also the “most glorious”
And that’s hard to argue with. There’s so much panic, so much carnage that it goes beyond football, somewhere into the genre of art. Terrible art, but art nonetheless.
But is it the worst football ever played?
