There are some football shirts that will stay in your mind forever. Not for the design or the pattern but for the moments that you associate with it. Like this Arsenal shirt.
The1989 Arsenal away shirt is one of those Arsenal fans can’t help but picture themselves wearing it all the time. Well, East Lower does;
It’s the yellow and blue Adidas / JVC away shirt worn in our title-winning season in 1989. I never had it, so no, I don’t have a photo of me wearing one. Although *in my mind*, during idle moments, I often wear it as I am bearing down on goal to score the goal that wins us our first title in 18 years.
The shirt was made by adidas (rumoured to be Arsenal’s kit maker for next season and was worn by Tony Adams, David Rocastle and Michael Thomas.
We love it due to the vintage adidas stripes and logo, cannons emblazoned in the print and “It’s up for grabs now” ringing through your head when you see it.
