Noel Gallagher is one of Manchester City’s most famous fans.
The former Oasis rock star has been a Blue through thick and thin, and has never shied away from speaking his mind on his beloved club.
In an exclusive interview with Dugout, Noel talks about the iconic moment that defined the club’s recent history: Sergio Aguero’s title-winning goal in 2012.
The Argentine buried his chance to snatch victory over QPR in the 93rd minute of stoppage time on the final day of the 2011-12 season, taking the title out of Manchester United’s clutches.
And Noel has had his say:
“I think it’s the greatest single moment in Premier League history. I wasn’t even in Manchester watching it, I was in Santiago in Chile in a bar at 10 o’clock in the morning, crying.
“It was the most exhausting game of football I’ve ever watched
“Even when you see it now on TV it’s just… goosebumps. It was just amazing.
“I can’t begin to think what it must’ve been like in the stadium. We were watching it with Spanish commentary. We didn’t know if United had won, people were texting.
“It was the greatest moment I’ve ever seen in football.”
City fans never tire of re-living Aguero’s legend-making moment. And why should they?
