Manchester City are known for sky blue, but they’ve also got a great relationship with another colour.
City have showcased maroon kits throughout the years, like this beauty from 2012-13, modelled by Vincent Kompany and Noel Gallagher:
And City’s new away kit, reportedly made from recycled plastic bottles by Nike, is in a similar style. Take a look:
Even though all Nike kits look the same this season, it’s a pretty decent effort, and we’re sure the likes of Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus will tear it up away from the Etihad decked all in maroon this season.
Not only did City wear maroon when they lifted the FA Cup in 1956 (when legendary goalkeeper Bert Trautmann played on with a broken bone in his neck), but we reckon their finest away kit was this beaut from 1990-92:
It has all the hallmarks of a great 1990s Manchester City kit: it’s Umbro, it’s sponsored by Brother, and it was worn by David White.
What more could you want from a football shirt?
