1991-92 was Graeme Souness’ first season as player-manager. It was pretty eventful, not only did the Liverpool moustached legend have open heart surgery, Liverpool also wore the new Adidas shirt with three stripes on the shoulder.
Who made it? Adidas
Who wore it? Liverpool legends John Barnes and Ian Rush, to name but a few.
Big moment: Winning the FA Cup final against Sunderland with goals from Michael Thomas and Ian Rush.
About the shirt: This was the final season of Liverpool’s sponsorship with Candy, the Italian manufacturer of domestic appliances. It set the blueprint for their shirts for the following season as their sponsor changed to Carlsberg.
