Why Manchester United’s 2017-18 away kit is the greatest of a generation

Manchester United’s football under Jose Mourinho may have been bang average so far, but their away kit for next season is a retro feast for the eyes.

A massive nod to the 1992 blue-and-white beauty worn by the likes of Ryan Giggs and Steve Bruce, Adidas and United have gone for a geometric throwback, and we love it.

Feast your eyes on it right here:

The monochrome, retro design may be marred slightly by the gaudy Chevrolet sponsor, but the design of the kit is, frankly, stunning.

Find us on Facebook and let us know what you think of United’s new look.

The new look may not be to everyone’s taste, but how often do you see kit manufacturers (particularly those in the Premier League) actually pushing boundaries and going for something different?

Just look at every Nike kit this season; it’s as though they’ve ordered those budget ones from Sports Direct and tweaked the colour scheme depending on whether they’re supplying England, Man City or Brazil.

Originality (even if it is in the form of ripping a kit from 1991-92) should be praised, not derided. That’s why we’re loving United and Adidas’s new effort.
