Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil and David Silva may be bandied about as the Premier League kings of assist, but it’s a Manchester United legend who can claim that crown.
Scanning ESPN’s table of most ever assists since the Premier League began, there’s a few surprises in its top 10.
For example, Man United winger Ashley Young is joint 10th in all-time Premier League assists (on 59 with Didier Drogba, Gareth Barry and Stewart Downing).
Hell, James Milner (74) is eighth, ahead of David Silva and Robin van Persie (both 60).
Fourth-placed Cesc Fabregas (97) is already edging out Frank Lampard (96), and he’s nipping at the heels of Steven Gerrard (99).
But there’s a clear winner when it comes to the Premier League’s all-time assist table.
Ryan Giggs is an incredible 30 assists ahead of second-placed Wayne Rooney (101), with 131 Premier League assists.
This article was originally published in January 2017, so results may have changed.
Quite remarkable when you consider Paul Scholes and David Beckham only chipped in with 89 between them.
Admittedly, Giggs did turn out for three Premier League seasons more than anyone else, but the level of consistency is quite outstanding.
Hats off, Giggsy.
