Is this Manchester United kit the best in history?

Manchester United had a fantastic season in 1998-99. In fact, it was the best season in the club’s history.

They won the Premier League; Ryan Giggs scored one of the finest FA Cup goals en route to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side lifting the trophy; and they turned the Champions League final on its head within two minutes to complete their treble.

So it’s only right that they should have a glorious kit to match such a glorious period in the club’s history.

This was the first seasons that United wore a bespoke kit, tailored especially for their European games.

The Umbro-made, signature-red kit came complete with a delightful, white collar, serving as the cherry on the cake of an already exceptional kit.

And, wearing this beauty at 1-0 down, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bagged desperately late goals to deliver Ferguson his first Champions League crown. The club could play for another 1,000 years and wouldn’t have a night as majestic as that.

They played classy football in Europe in 1998-99, and they looked great doing it.

The best kit worn by an English team ever?
