The worst player ever to score in a Manchester United v Liverpool game

Manchester United and Liverpool are the biggest clubs in the country.

Down to their close proximity and the fact that they have 38 titles between them, their rivalry is up there with the fiercest in the Premier League.

It’s always fiery, it’s always played at a relentless pace and, usually, the standard of football is pretty bloody good.

Some wonderful players have battled out this historic game over the years, like Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona, Fernando Torres and Kenny Dalglish.

But every now and again, a rubbish player pops up and steals some of the glory by having the audacity to score.

The likes of John O’Shea have chipped in with goals in this fixture, but one man takes the biscuit when it comes to bad players netting in a United v Liverpool clash.

David N’Gog struck for Liverpool in 2009, confirming Liverpool’s 2-0 victory at Anfield.

Fernando Torres had opened the scoring with a typically sublime finish, before Liverpool caught the visitors on the break.

N’Gog kept his cool, rolling the ball past the onrushing Edwin van der Sar.

It was a proper Man United v Liverpool clash, to be fair, including a Namanja Vidic red card, a Torres beauty and a sweeping counter attack finished by the one, the only David N’Gog…

The Frenchman made 63 league appearances for Liverpool, scoring only nine times. After three seasons he was shipped off to Bolton, where he made a similarly underwhelming impact.

Now 27, N’Gog is at Greek side Panionios, where he has scored once in 11 appearances.

Sorry David, but you’ve got to be the worst player to score in a Man United v Liverpool game.
