New Balance launch Liverpool’s 2017 home shirt: a remarkable tribute to Mark Lawrenson

Liverpool are first out of the gates in revealing their shirt for next season as New Balance unveil their home shirt for the 2017/18 season.  Paying homage to the club’s 125th anniversary the new kit features a new commemorative crest and 80s influences throughout.  We can’t help but think it is somewhat familiar.

The shirt is in Liverpool red with subtle pin stripes, an enlarge crest and massive v neck collar and trim on the sleeves.

The liver bird emblem is flanked with embroidered ‘1892’ and ‘2017’ to acknowledge the 125th anniversary with a tribute to the Hillsborough tragedy as the 96 emblem is encased by the eternal flames at the neck.
Some description

The shirt pays homage to the 1982-85 Umbro classic worn by legends like BBC predictor Mark Lawrenson.  Huge white v neck collar, white trim on the sleeves and subtle pin stripes.
