The best Chelsea shirt ever?

In Short List’s top 20 Premier League shirts, this amazing 1993/94 Chelsea football shirt came in at No 7.

Why is it great?

Because almost all Umbro kits of this era were impeccable. The esoteric collar and effective use of red as an accent combine with a wonderfully retro sponsor. We miss the Amiga. The 2015-16 shirt will probably reach cult status like this one has: a way of showing people ‘I was supporting Chelsea when they were rubbish’.

Fond memories?

Although they finished in the bottom half of the table the did reach the FA Cup final for the first time in 24 years. But wearing this they lost 4-0 to Manchester United at Wembley. It was enough to put them in Europe for the first time since the early Seventies however.

The best Chelsea game from that season was a 4-3 home win for Chelsea against Spurs. Hoddle v Ardiles. Kharine v Walker. Stein v Rosenthal. Amiga v Holsten. It was 3-3 into the dying minutes until a dramatic end.

Where can I get it?

You can get that 1993/94 Chelsea football shirt here (L) for £34.99.
