Manchester United fans are loving this tribute to the Newton Heath shirt

Long before the green-and-gold scarf brigade came Newton Heath LYR Football Club, the name under which Manchester United was founded in 1878. Friend of the Football Shirt Collective, Daryl Higgins has paid tribute with this sick print.

The club paid homage to its heritage with the 1992-94 away strip: a classy, green and gold, SHARP-sponsored shirt by Umbro. Woof.

Bizarrely Fergie signed off to the world’s best ever kit launch. Lee Sharpe, Kanchelskis, Paul Parker, Cantona and a bag of fake moustaches.

It went one further in the team photo where Peter Schmeichel wore a flat cap and Brian Kidd dressed up as Stalin.

Either way the Newton Heath was class and Daryl Higgins has done it justice with this print.
