Under Harry Redknapp, Tottenham had one of their most exciting teams in recent years.
Bale was growing into one of the best players in the world, Luka Modric was pulling the strings in midfield, and Rafa van der Vaart was using his wand of a left foot to devastating effect.
The 2011-12 season was the most Tottenham season of all-time. They played brilliantly throughout, earning the fourth-place spot, but were bumped out of the Champions League the following season because Chelsea (somehow) won that season’s competition, despite finishing sixth in the Premier League.
But they played some scintillating stuff, and it was the last season when Emmanuel Adebayor was scoring for fun, chipping in 17 league goals with the support of Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart.
They also had a banging kit. This simplistic, Puma-sponsored home shirt is a work of art in a time when kits were over-designed and needlessly complex.
The turn-up collar and navy-and-white design add to the class of the shirt.
We’re selling ours (with a punchy Black Friday discount) with “BALE 3” on its back.
