Watch: When Andrei Kanchelskis and Everton took Liverpool apart

In the summer of 1995, Everton signed Andrei Kanchelskis from Manchester United for a whopping £5m.

The Russian winger had a great first season at Everton, including a double away at arch-rivals Liverpool.

Kanchelskis scored the opener with a bullet header past David James. He got the ball in the Liverpool half, played the ball out wide to Paul Rideout who crossed for Kanchelskis to nod home.

The second came with some nice build-up from Anders Lipmar. The former Arsenal man dribbled past two in midfield and played the ball through to Kanchelskis, who shot low at the near post, beating James again.

Kanchelskis went on to score 16 goals for Everton before being sold to Fiorentina the following year for £8m.
