Watch: Ian Wright’s first Arsenal goal will make you want to go back to the early 90s

International week is here.  We’re bb so what better reason than to look back to Ian Wright’s first goal for Arsenal.

It came away from home when Arsenal played Leicester in the League Cup.  They were wearing the bruised banana Adidas away shirt and Ian Wright was wearing #9 – not #8.  He got played in on the left hand side from Paul Davis in midfield.

He nearly messed things by falling over, before calmly slotting into the bottom corner.  He would go on to score 128 times for Arsenal.

It was the 1st time Ian Wright had scored on his debut

“It’s been a good start for me and it’s the 1st time I have scored on my debut so I am pleased.”

But he nearly f*cked it up

“All I remember about the goal is almost falling down but when I got up I seemed to have a lot of time to take the shot.”

George Graham was chuffed with his new signing

“Ian’s pace is frightening.  He scored a goal out of nothing and you can’t practice those.”

Arsenal were wearing the famous bruised banana away shirt.  You can order yours here.
