There are many old kit manufacturers that we would love to see back in the game, from Bukta to Meyba. Another brand we'd welcome the return of is Pony, most famous for their stint with Tottenham Hotspur.

As part of our My First Football Shirt series, we caught up with Sean from Talking THFC to talk about his memories of those Pony Spurs shirts, football shirt family photos and Peter Crouch scoring for Spurs against Manchester City.

What was your first ever football shirt?

My first ever football shirt was the 1995-1997 Tottenham Hotspur home shirt made my Pony, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard. Like most children of Spurs fans, it was thrust upon me by my Father at birth, and I thank him every day since for making me Tottenham.

    What is your favourite shirt?

My favourite football shirt remains the 2005-2006 Tottenham Hotspur home shirt made by Kappa, sponsored by Thompson. The navy blue sleeves were iconic for me, as they’re distinctly Spurs, whilst the material was perfect for playing in.

My entire family are Tottenham, and on that particular season we all purchased the shirt. Our group picture remains one of my prized possessions.

    What is your favourite goal?

My favourite ever goal is rather difficult, as there are so many. Jonathan Woodgate scoring at Wembley in the 2008 Carling Cup victory over Chelsea is but one memorable goal. Aaron Lennon’s late equaliser in the 4-4 draw with Arsenal is yet another which brings a smile to my face. Perhaps my favourite, is Peter Crouch scoring at Manchester City to secure fourth-place and Champions League football for my team. That was magic.

If you want to read more about the football memories of players, writers, and more you can buy the full Your First Football Shirt book. Discover Alan Shearer's first ever football shirt, Carl Anka's most cherished shirt and more. All proceeds go to the charities CALM and Willow.
